Ok so in preparation for the great American Race, I had to to the necessary homework. This included the requisite trip to the California Speedway to watch the winter testing session for the new Car of Tomorrow.
This was pretty cool they let you pretty much wander EVERYWHERE!!! We were in the owners terrace boxes, Pit Road, the Garages and all over the infield. The roar of the engines, the smell of the exhaust and the frenzie of the fans all made for a great experience.
Some of the fans were so excited to see their drivers it was a real treat to see them react as their cars rolled out onto the track. Everyone was there Dale Jr, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Juan Pablo Montoya, The Bush Brothers and Mark Martin to name a few.
Heck even my mom was there not that she is a big fan mind you but none the less it was the place to be if you wanted to be with the in crowd......Now as for me I just liked being around the elements. You know enjoying the moment, basking in the incredible energy that surges thru your veins as the cars roar by you and to think that you are standing on the very spot that crews, drivers, hangers on, and occasional celebs might have passed... (in the words of the Geico Gecko) Ummm thats good stuff!!
